How to Assemble Your Bike
Your bike will arrive in a box. You will need an Allen Key set & a 5/8ths (15mm) spanner or an adjustable spanner, lithium grease & oil. To assemble your bike you will need to do the following:
- Remove the bike from the box & remove all protective packaging.
- Fit the handlebars ensuring that they are in line with the frame & the wheel. Ensure that all bolts & screws are tight.
- Add the front wheel. The axle is usually in a separate box. Remove the axle & push through the centre of the wheel hub ensuring that there is a spring on each side. Attach the retension clips & tighten. Remember that you will need to adjust the brakes to put the wheel on & also ensure that the brakes are fitted correctly & don’t rub.
- Add the seat post & tighten with an Allen Key. Try not to over tighten but ensure that there is no movement. If you have a workstand it is easier if you attach the bike to the work stand once you have fitted the seat post.
- Add lithum grease to the thread on the pedals & screw the pedals onto the pedal arms. The R pedal will screw on clockwise & the L pedal will screw on anti-clockwise. Please ensure that you screw on the correct pedal to the correct pedal arm.
- Ensure that the brakes are positions correctly & the both front & rear wheels run freely.
- Index the gears at the front & the back. Sometimes they are already set up but if you aren’t sure how to do this seek professional advice.
- Oil the chain & go through all the gears
- Rub oil on your fingers & rub on to all parts that are likely to rust.
- Inflate the tyres.
- Add any extras such as bell, mudguards, reflectors, bottle holder.
